Severe bleeding is one of the deadliest threats both on the battlefield and in daily life. Without timely and effective hemorrhage control, a casualty can die within minutes. Studies indicate that approximately 85% of battlefield fatalities result from major hemorrhage, of which at least half could have been prevented. In U.S. military operations, about 95% of pre-hospital deaths are caused by uncontrolled bleeding, and nearly 90% of combat-related deaths could be avoided with effective hemostasis. Similar risks also exist in everyday scenarios: traffic accidents can lead to deep trauma and rapid hemorrhagic shock; outdoor sports and industrial work frequently involve cutting or crushing injuries; even minor household incidents can pose danger. Before professional help arrives, rapid and reliable bleeding control often determines whether a victim survives.

Challenge of Hemorrhage Control

Time is critical. Rapid and effective hemorrhage control is the decisive step in saving lives during emergency care.

  • Uncontrolled bleeding

Whether caused by traffic accidents, combat injuries, or natural disasters, uncontrolled bleeding remains one of the leading causes of preventable death in trauma patients.

  • Limitations of conventional hemostatic methods

    • Insufficient speed, leading to delayed intervention

    • Reduced effectiveness on irregular or deep wounds

    • Potential risk of thermal damage to tissues

  • The Need for a More Effective Solution

Emergency responders require tools that can rapidly, safely, and effectively control severe bleeding at the point of injury, in order to reduce trauma mortality.

Chitosan Technology

Chitosan is a naturally occurring high-molecular-weight biopolymer derived from deep-sea crustaceans, characterized by its high density of positive charges.

  • Mechanism of Action

Upon contact with blood, the positively charged chitosan rapidly attracts negatively charged red blood cells and platelets, forming a physical gel-like clot at the wound site, thereby sealing the bleeding point quickly.

  • Technical Advantages

Functions independently of the patient’s intrinsic coagulation system. Effective even in patients under anticoagulant therapy or in hypothermic conditions.

  • Rapid cellular aggregation

Accelerates the hemostatic process and significantly reduces bleeding control time.

  • How it Works

â‘  When it comes into contact with the blood, the positive nitrogen ions of Chitosan can interact with the negative ions on the surfaces of red blood cells to cause the aggregation and deformation of the red blood cells, which can promote blood coagulation. â‘¡ The Chitosan hemostatic powder can rapidly absorb water, concentrate the blood platelets and the coagulation factors, activate the coagulation pathway and speed up the coagulation process. â‘¢ After absorbing the blood, the Chitosan hemostatic powder can become a kind of viscous blood clot, which can immediately form a kind of mechanical barrier and prevents any further bleeding from the wound.

In a large animal femoral artery bleeding model (n=10), the product achieved effective hemostasis within 3–5 minutes, with a post-operative survival rate exceeding 90%, demonstrating excellent hemostatic performance. Compared with international counterparts such as Celox and HemCon, our product shows comparable hemostasis time, exhibits significant antibacterial activity, and offers a more cost-effective solution.

How It Works

The major ingredient of this product is Chitosan. It is a kind of off white or light-yellow sponge like solid. It is applicable in controlling severe trauma bleeding in cases of emergency as well as the local skin treatment of bleeding from lacerations, small cuts and wounds.

When it comes in contact with the blood, the blood will be concentrated immediately and the platelets, red blood cells and blood coagulating protein in the blood will be got together to accelerate the natural blood coagulation process.

The gelatinous mixture of the product and the blood can immediately form a kind of mechanical barrier to stop any further bleeding from the wound, so as to control the bleeding caused by the wound.
